Occlusion in Dogs

چکیده
Calcium metabolism may play an important role in the pathogenesis of myocardial ischemic injury. The effect of the sarcolemmal calcium flux inhibitor, verapamil, on myocardial necrosis was studied in dogs subjected to temporary coronary artery occlusion. One group of dogs was untreated. A second group was given 0.8 mg/kg verapamil intravenously over a 30 min period beginning 10 min prior to coronary occlusion. In a third group, the dose of verapamil was increased until complicated by hypotension or conduction abnormalities. Cardiac necrosis was produced in all dogs by

Protracted ventricular tachcardia induced by premature stimulation of the canine heart after coronary artery occlusion and reperfusion.
The effects of premature ventricular stimuli were studied in two groups of dogs with infarcts, one group subjected to permanent occlusion of the left anterior descending coronary artery and the other to temporary occlusion for 2 hours. In dogs with permanent occlusion, spontaneous ventricular arrhythmias occurred after 3-6 hours. In 13 dogs with temporary occlusion, ventricular arrhythmias occu...
متن کاملReduction by propranolol of myocardial necrosis following temporary coronary artery occlusion in dogs.
The effect of propranolol on the severity of myocardial necrosis following 40 minutes of temporary coronary artery occlusion was assessed in dogs. The circumflex coronary artery was occluded 1—2 cm from the aorta in open-chest dogs anesthetized with sodium pentobarbital. One group of dogs was untreated and a second group received propranolol (5.0 mg/kg, iv) 10 minutes prior to the occlusion. Af...

Acute left anterior descending coronary artery occlusion was produced in 21 conscious, chronically instrumented dogs. Forty minutes after coronary occlusion, nine dogs were given i.v. teprotide, 25 ,ug/kg/min, followed by oral doses of captopril, 10 mg/kg every 8 hours for 24 hours. The remaining 12 dogs served as saline-infused controls. In all dogs, acute coronary occlusion increased plasma r...
متن کاملDelayed cardioprotective effects of exercise in dogs are aminoguanidine sensitive: possible involvement of nitric oxide.
Dogs were subjected to exercise on a treadmill, using a protocol in which the speed and slope were increased every 3 min, and which elevated both heart rate (to a mean of 198+/-14 beats.min(-1)) and mean arterial blood pressure (to 150+/-4 mmHg). Then, 24 or 48 h later, the dogs were anaesthetized with a mixture of alpha-chloralose and urethane and subjected to a 25 min occlusion of the left an...
متن کاملAspirin-induced increase in collateral flow after acute coronary occlusion in dogs.
Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) has inhibitory effects on platelet function and prostaglandin synthesis. Since alterations in either platelet function or prostaglandin-mediated vascular responses could influence blood flow to ischemic myocardium, we tested the effects of aspirin on coronary collateral flow after acute occlusion of the left anterior descending coronary artery in dogs. Aspirin dos...
